Neuro- cranium Sphenoid (1) Irregular, middle of skull. 4 main parts; body, pterygoid process, greater and lesser wing. Articulates with; ALL cranial bones & palatine, vomer and zygomatic. Functions; - helps form base of skull, floor of middle cranial fossa, orbital floor and nasal cavity. Temporal (2) Irregular bones, at side of cranium. Articulates with; parietal, occipital, frontal and zygomatic bones. Squamosal suture; unites squamous part of temporal bone with parietal bone. Functions; - attachment for muscle ass. with tongue and larynx; styloid process, contains middle and inner part of ear. Occipital (1) Ethmoid (1) Flat bone, back of cranium.
