# The Way Things Ought to Be ## Multiculturalism - Multiculturalism is a misguided premise; it is based upon the idea that minority cultures can't overcome unfairness. - America is portrayed as a society riddled by misery and oppression. - The main goal of multiculturalism is to instill hatred and negativity in our children's minds. - Attacks on Christopher Columbus in the quincentennial year of 1992 are proof of this. - Columbus was a pivotal figure in history and changed the course of history. - The Vikings and native tribes did not have the same impact. - Many try to discredit Columbus's historical legacy by portraying him negatively, claiming he was a murderer, sexist, cruel and a bigot. - They argue that he was a root cause of current societal problems. - Some even claim that the Americas were discovered by Columbus's wife. - They argue that Columbus was a bigot because they think he was wrong about the Americas being named after him. - These people don't understand that America is built on freedom and opportunity, yet they want to teach the oppressed to cling to the very societies they escaped. ## Rush H. Limbaugh III - There is a misconception and belief that the American system of government came from Christopher Columbus. - Multiculturalists are committed to tearing down this country by discrediting its foundation. - They claim that the Constitution is flawed because of slavery practiced by the Founding Fathers, and that it was built on a foundation of immoral actions rooted in those actions. - It is important to remember that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were slave owners. - This does not mean that the government system and the values it stands for are tainted, it's just history and does not detract from those who did succeed in forging a new nation. - The goal of multiculturalism is to undermine America's identity and way of life. - It is an attempt to dismantle capitalism and establish socialism under the guise of "fairness". - This type of equality, where "equality is in restraint and servitude" is not true equality, but oppression. - Dr. Schlesinger has revealed that multiculturalism in schools is tearing apart our Nation's culture. - He has shown that American culture is being criticized and denigrated, while people are being encouraged to look to their ethnic roots for salvation. - This kind of thinking is directly in conflict with America's values. - This country was built by people who were fleeing oppression. - America is an eternal beacon of hope and prosperity for those searching for freedom, help and a better way of life. - This is why people from all corners of the world come to America, and this is why so many have sought to escape to America. - Multiculturalism is not about freedom or opportunity, it's about tearing down a system of values. - Multiculturalism encourages communities to teach their children about their heritage and culture, but not at the expense of the values of the nation themselves. - Public education should not be used to further ethnic division and tension. - It should be used to strengthen the bonds of national cohesion. ## The Way Things Ough. to 3e - Young African Americans should be treated as Americans, not as citizens of their heritage. - Multiculturalism is not about promoting a level playing field, but about tearing things down. - John Kennedy said life isn't fair and that's the truth. - We should not be afraid to deal with things as they are. - We need to promote success, not fairness. - This isn't about teaching people to fail because of the past, but to teach them to thrive because of their future. - Many people are happy with the existence of misery, which allows them to say, "I told you so." - Some feel that if a minority group member succeeds, they have abandoned their roots. - This perpetuates a cycle of negativity, and leads to the promotion of failure, not success. - If we want to succeed in America, then we have to assimilate; to become part of the American culture. - The purpose of those who promote multiculturalism is to discredit America, its history, and its ideals. ## This is a summary of the document.
