POINTS TO REMEMBER Emotions Emotions are what people feel. An emotion is a feeling such as happiness, sadness, love, fear, confusion, anger, or hatred, which can be caused by the situation that you are in or the people you are with. Kindness Kindness is the quality of being gentle, caring, and helpful. Example- If a friend in class is having trouble with their homework, instead of ignoring them, you could offer to help. You might say, “I can help you with that problem!” This shows kindness by being supportive and lending a hand when someone needs it. It makes both of you feel good! Sympathy A feeling or expression of gentle concern for someone who is sad, troubled, or in pain. Example- If a classmate’s pet passes away, you might say, “I’m really sorry to hear about your pet. That must be tough for you.” This shows sympathy because you’re expressing care and concern for their situation, even if you don’t feel exactly what they’re feeling. Empathy Empathy is the ability to share someone else's feelings or experiences by imagining what it would be like to be in that person's situation. Example- If a friend is upset because they lost their favorite toy, you might say, “I can see that you’re really sad. I would feel sad too if I lost something I loved.” This shows empathy because you’re trying to understand how your friend feels and connecting with their emotions. Group work. You can find examples of teamwork in games, television shows, and sports, among other aspects of life. Helpful The meaning of helpful is of service or assistance : useful.
