Game Stage SOCIOLOGICAL SELF Preparatory Stage (From birth to 2 years old) Infants mimicking actions as they observe people they interact with These imitations are reflections of what they remember without meaning behind these actions. Ex. Mimicking parents what they do, their gestures and words. Play Stage (From 2 to 6 years old) Child begins to communicate to others with certain rules apply. They practices real-life situations by pretend plays and role takings. They are already aware of what role they are pretending to be unlike in the Preparatory Stage Ex. Children pretend playing as a mom or dad, as a doctor, a teacher, a firefighter, etc. Game Stage (From 6 to 9 years old) Acknowledge the beliefs or perspectives of the generalized others (society). Understands what multiple role means. Starts to be concerned with the reactions of significant others on what they do. Ex. A child starts to understand what is right or wrong, good and bad. SOCIOLOGICAL SELF He believed that every person has an Archetype called persona. Persona The side of the personality that people show to the world. Jung believed that each of us should project a particular role. We should not confuse our public face with our complete self. If we identify too closely with our persona, we will remain unconscious of our individuality and will be blocked from attaining self-realization SOCIOLOGICAL SELF Persona We must acknowledge society but if we over identify with our persona, we lose touch with our inner self and remain dependent on society’s expectations of us. To become psychologically healthy, Jung believed, we must strike a balance between the demands of society and what we truly are; To be unaware of one’s deep individuality is to become society’s puppet. SOCIOLOGICAL SELF Kapwa According to Dr. Virgilio Enriquez, a pioneer on studying kapwa is the core value Filipino Psychology, of Filipinos as Shared Identity. 2 types of Kapwa: Ibang Tao- These are people that you are not acquainted with Hindi Ibang Tao- These are people inside your circle SOCIOLOGICAL SELF SOCIOLOGICAL SELF It came from the Greek word anthropos means humankind and logia means study of A systematic exploration of human biological and cultural diversity It is the study of human species and its immediate ancestors includes four main subfields namely, cultural, archeological, biological and linguistics ANTHROPOLOGICAL SELF Study of human society and culture which describes the social and cultural similarities and differences. Ethnography Came from the Greek word ethos means group of people, class or tribe and graphein means to write or to record. Collecting data regarding ethnic groups requires the anthropologist to observe, interview and record their life. ANTHROPOLOGICAL SELF Studies humans through material remains to develop an understanding of human adaptation and behavior over a long period of time. Example: Plants, animals, ancient tools or garbage that provides stories about utilization and actions Fossils - are the preserved remains or traces of living organisms, such as plants and animals, from the past. They can include bones, teeth, shells, and even imprints left by organisms. Artefacts - on the other hand, are objects that have been made or modified by humans. These can include tools, pottery, weapons, and other items that reflect human culture and activities. ANTHROPOLOGICAL SELF Studies humans as organism. It involves studies in evolution of human species, changes in modern populations, human genetics, human growth and medical anthropology (changes in life expectancies). Biological anthropology, also known as physical anthropology, is a subfield that examines the biological and behavioral aspects of humans, their ancestors, and related primates from an evolutionary perspective. ANTHROPOLOGICAL SELF Studies language in its social and cultural context across space and time. Features of language are analyzed and associated to the culture. It explores how language functions as a tool for communication, identity formation, and the organization of social life. Linguistic anthropologists analyze both spoken and written forms of language within their cultural contexts to understand how they influence and reflect societal norms and values. ANTHROPOLOGICAL SELF Refers to customary behavior and beliefs that are being passed from one generation to another Enculturation - Social process which culture is learned and being passed on to the next generation Ex.
