Unit 8: RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION Selection Methods Lesson 5. Objective: To describe different selection methods and identify when it is appropriate to use them. Selection Methods Selection Is the process by which managers and others use specific instruments to choose from a pool of applicants, a person(s) more likely to succeed in the job(s). (Bratton & Gold, 2007) Selection methods should ensure candidates are treated fairly, without discrimination or bias, and that selections are made based on the candidate’s ability to perform the role, contribute to the organisation and their potential for development.
