PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT LESSON 5 Parts of the BRAIN CEREBRUM - the largest brain structure, representing nearly 80% of the brain by weight. It has folded bulges called gyri, and it is marked by deep furrows called fissures and shallow ones called sulci. It is divided into two halves, called the cerebral hemisphere. The left and right hemisphere are connected by a large bundle pf nerve fibers called the corpus callosum. Parts of the BRAIN CEREBELLUM - it plays an important role in balance and motor control. It is also involved in some cognitive functions such as attention, language, emotional functions and processing of procedural memories. It is also involved in mental rehearsal of motor skills, which is essential in improving performance and becoming more skilled. Parts of the BRAIN BRAINSTEM - it consists of the medulla, the pons, and the midbrain which controls breathing, digestion, heart rate and other autonomic processes. The reticular activating system (RAS) is also located in the brainstem that is responsible for your brain's alertness. Parts of the BRAIN LIMBIC SYSTEM - composed of the structures that have different functions such as generation of emotion and processing of emotional memories. Its location allows the interplay of emotion and reason. THALAMUS HYPOTHALAMUS AMYDALA HIPPOCAMPUS THE WHOLE BRAIN MODEL THE WHOLE BRAIN MODEL The Whole Brain Model emphasizes that everyone has access to all four thinking styles, but individuals tend to favor one or two styles. The Right- Brain and Left- Brain Theory The Right-Brain and Left-Brain Theory The Right-Brain and Left-Brain Theory Question …. It involves creating a diagram to represent ideas, concepts, or information in a non-linear format. A mind map starts with a central idea and branches out into related topics, subtopics, or details, making it an effective tool for brainstorming, planning, and learning. Steps in Creating a Mind Map (1) Start with the CENTRAL IDEA: - Write the main topic or idea in the center of a blank page (2) Add Main Branches - Draw lines outward from the central idea to represent major categories or themes (3) Include Sub-branches - Break down each main branch into smaller, related details or subtopics. Steps in Creating a Mind Map (4) Use Keywords and Images - Write keywords or short phrases for each branch. Add images or icons to enhance understanding. (5) Use Colors - Use different colors for branches to distinguish between topics and stimulate creativity.
