**Lecture in General Biology 2** Cancer: A Mishap in Cell Division Cancer- is a disease in which some of the body's cells grow uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body. Tumor- is a swelling of a part of the body, generally without inflammation, caused by an abnormal growth of tissue, whether benign or malignant. Benign tumor- does not spread because it does not affect its surrounding cells. Malignant tumor- severely affects its surrounding cells and can spread to the different body parts. Metastasis- a cancer cell may depart from its original location and travel to the different body parts through the bloodstream.
