COMMON LABORATORY EQUIPMENT It used to observe a tiny specimen. MICROSCOPE It is to shield the eyes against liquid or chemical splash, irritating mists, vapors, and fumes. They form a protective seal around the eyes. SAFETY GOGGLES / GLASSES It is a cylindrical container with a flat bottom used to hold liquid or solid samples. BEAKER It is a piece of heat-tolerant laboratory glassware that is used to hold substances or liquids that are being melted or evaporated. EVAPORATING DISH It produces a single open flame and it is used for heating and sterilization purposes in the various experiments conducted in labs. BUNSEN BURNER It is a portable, three-legged platform equipment. It is to support or hold the flasks and beakers during experiments. Tripod It is a sheet of thin metal that has a net-like pattern or wire mesh that supports a container or a glassware while it is being heated. It also helps with an even distribution of heat as the bunsen burner flame passes through the gauze to the container. WIRE GAUZE A mortar is a vessel in which substances are ground or crushed with a pestle. A pestle is a tool used to crush, mash or grind materials in a mortar. MORTAR & PESTLE It is an instrument that measures temperature. Mercury Thermometer Digital Thermometer THERMOMETER It is used for storing, mixing, and heating small amounts of chemicals. TEST TUBE It is used to hold multiple test tubes upright at the same time. They are especially useful for organizing test tubes when different solutions are being worked on or collected at once. TEST TUBE RACK It is used for holding a test tube in place when the tube is hot or should not be touched. TEST TUBE HOLDER It is used to easily clean the inside of test tubes and other glassware. TEST TUBE BRUSHES It is used to measure the volume of a liquid. GRADUATED CYLINDER It is usually made of solid glass, about the thickness and slightly longer than a drinking straw, with rounded ends. It is used to stir or mix solutions. STIRRING ROD It is a tube or pipe that is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, used for guiding liquid or powder into a small opening. FUNNEL It is a weighing instrument that is named for the three beams which carry weights where the middle beam is the largest, the far beam of medium size, and the front beam the smallest. TRIPLE BEAM BALANCE It is used to view enlarged or magnified images of objects or read the small calibrations marked on many equipment. MAGNIFYING GLASS It is used to measure the inner and outer dimensions of objects. VERNIER CALIPER
