# La Cenicienta ## The Story Begins - The story takes place in a prosperous and peaceful kingdom, in a castle surrounded by a large garden. - A noble lord lives in the castle, who is trying to move on from the death of his young wife. - He has a beautiful and sweet daughter who is the spitting image of her mother. - The young girl spends her time with her dog, Bruno, and horse, Mayor. - Her father realizes she needs a mother and two more sisters to play with. - He marries a widow with two daughters, who are already older. ## A Difficult Life - The noble lord gets sick and dies. - His new wife acts cruelly towards her stepdaughter, using her as a servant and making her do all the chores. - The stepsisters spend their time sleeping or going for walks, while Cinderella is forced to work without a break. ## A Bit of Kindness - Cinderella lives in a dark attic room. - During cold winter nights, she sits near the fireplace and her delicate feet are often covered in ashes. - This is why she is called Cinderella. - Her days are brighter thanks to the birds and mice who come to visit her. - She makes friends with a mouse named Jack and his friend, Bobby. - Jack is particularly fond of her, even willing to risk his life for her. - Cinderella is kind to them and helps them when she can. ## A Prankster's Joke - Jack and Bobby discover a mouse trapped in a mousetrap. - Cinderella frees it and names it Gustavo. - Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsisters hate mice and often set mousetraps for them. - They blame Cinderella when they don't catch the mice, believing she is protecting them. ## A Kind-Hearted Girl - Cinderella’s first job every day is to feed the chickens. - The chickens don't like cheese, but the mice do. - Cinderella provides them with both food. - The mice love the cheese and come rushing to eat. - Jack warns them to watch out for the cat, Lucifer, who is a notorious mouse hunter. ## Brave Jack - Lucifer is sleeping nearby, but Jack sees him. He has a beautiful castle, a peaceful kingdom, and his son is a wonderful prince. - The king replies that he is sad because his son is always busy and he is concerned that his son won’t find a wife before he is too old. ## A Royal Invitation - A messenger arrives at Cinderella’s house. - He gives Cinderella a letter to deliver to her stepmother. - Cinderella reads the letter and learns that the king is hosting a ball. - She wants to attend the ball, but knows her stepmother will say no. ## A Mother’s Cruelty - The stepmother is filled with joy when she hears about the ball. - She excitedly informs her two daughters about the ball and the potential of finding a husband there. - Then, she addresses Cinderella cruelly, reminding her that she is a servant who deserves to be punished for her laziness. - The stepmother dismisses Cinderella’s desire to attend the ball, informing her that she needs to work for the rest of the day before she could even think about attending, even if she had a suitable dress. ## Loyal Friends - In the attic, the mice are just as excited about the ball as Cinderella is. - They know that she secretly wants to go. - Jack and Bobby are happy to help Cinderella.
