Telestaff is the computer software system used by the Kansas City, MO Fire Department for managing personnel rosters, scheduling, calendars, bidding and a variety of other needs. This program is used by everyone in the department and is a vital tool for day to day operations. The Telestaff icon is on the desktop of each Fire Station computer as well as a number of computers at Eastwood. Double clicking on the icon will present the login window where you will access your personal calendar and other information. You can access Telestaff through a Web based interface, too. Any web browser (like Internet Explorer©, Firefox©, Safari©, or Chrome©) can be used to access Telestaff. Type in the address bar and you will see the login window. The system works with any computer with internet access and with smart phones that have internet access. Logging In to Telestaff ======================= Accessing your personal information in Telestaff requires an ID number and password. Your ID number is the same as your six-digit Employee ID number (found on back of your picture ID card). The password is set by default to "1234". ![Desktop login window.png](media/image3.png) Figure : The Login Window. Input your Fire Dept. ID number and password. This shows the tool bar (top right), the Navigator (left side), and the Calendar View. The Navigator ============= The navigator on the left side of the window allows you to select different features of the system. You can select the calendar, information, auctions, and reports to view, input and edit your information. The Calendar ============ The calendar provides a quick view of all your shift information. It shows vacation days (worked and scheduled), sick leave, special pay codes (holdovers, details, work out of class, etc), paydays, paid holidays, standby/fireguard shifts, etc. If you position the cursor over any item on the calendar Telestaff will show you details about that particular item. In the calendar view, when you right click on any day, a menu appears which gives you more features to choose from. The menu provides you access to reports, rosters, add and remove work codes (vacation, sick leave, bidding, etc.), as well as other features of the program. The Information Window ====================== The information window shows you the data Telestaff uses to identify you. It shows personal (name, address, phone, etc) and Fire Department (work out of class, position, rank, certifications, etc.) related information. The system uses this information to determine where and if you can hold positions, work overtime, work standby/fireguard, etc. The Auctions Window =================== The auctions window is the part of the system that allows you to bid on positions and vacation. The Reports Window ================== The reports window allows you to access information about your work schedule, hours, and special working days. Through the selection of different settings, the reports can be general or very detailed. The Web Default View ==================== When you log into Telestaff from a web browser, the default view has many, but not all, of the same features as the desktop system. You can access your calendar, information/resource, auctions, and reports. Logging into Telestaff via a web browser requires an additional piece of information, an access code, that is not required when logging into the desktop application. The access code is the same for everyone in the department: 2595. ![](media/image7.png) Using Telestaff (Managers) ========================== Telestaff has special features that will allow you to: 1.
