READING (9 pts.) **Holidays in the USA** In the USA, there are many holidays that people celebrate. Each holiday has its own special meaning and fun traditions. Here are some popular holidays in the USA! New Year's Day is on January 1st. People celebrate the beginning of a new year. Many families have parties and watch fireworks. Independence Day, or the Fourth of July, is celebrated on July 4th. It marks the day the USA became independent from Britain. People enjoy fireworks, parades, and barbecues. Many families have picnics and wear red, white, and blue clothing. Halloween is on October 31st. Kids dress up in costumes and go trick-or-treating. They knock on doors and collect candy. Many people decorate their homes with pumpkins and spooky decorations. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. It is a time to give thanks for the good things in life. Families come together for a big meal, which often includes turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. Christmas is on December 25th. It is a joyful holiday. Families decorate Christmas trees and exchange gifts. Many people enjoy singing carols and spending time together. Holidays in the USA are fun times for families and friends to come together. I can also go to the park, my favorite park is Pipiripia. Since I have free time I can visit my grandmother. She cooks delicious food.
