A socially and economically productive life. 2. A level of functional and/ or metabolic efficiency of an organism at both the micro(cellular) and macro(social) level. The Importance of HEALTH DISEASE A condition whereby the body experiences impaired physiological functions and is usually not due to accident. The need for the establishment of a system or authority to ensure the goods and service identified are organised and delivered accordingly. SYSTEM OR AUTHORITY Introduces, plans, implements, sustains, monitors, and evaluates policies related to healthcare delivery. Can be derived from any of the following sources: ⚬ A government agency responsible for overseeing healthcare delivery, established through legislation. ⚬ An organization that provides essential facilities, infrastructure, or healthcare professionals for the effective delivery of specific healthcare services. ⚬ A healthcare professional recognized for delivering proper healthcare systematically to individuals in need of such services. PURPO SE O F HEALTHCARE SYSTEM Save lives (detection of acute conditions) Prevent further harm ⚬ Removal of harm ⚬ Treating medical conditions (curative) Facilitating recovery (rehabilitative) Sustaining an acceptable quality of life (palliative) Promoting health ⚬ Early disease detection ⚬ Healthy life styles EXAMPLE OF HEALTHCARE SYSTEM MEDICAL IMAGING What is MEDICAL IMAGING All procedures to produce images of the human anatomy to demonstrate size, shape, anatomy, physiology as well as the wellness of specific organs or body systems. ROLE OF Medical Imaging To provide images of the human anatomy & physiology that can assist doctors/ clinicians / medical practitioners tom decide on how best to manage a particular patient’s medical situation. These images can be used to detect, locate, characterise and monitor lesions that are responsible for certain medical illness. PROGRESS in Medical Imaging From discovery of X -rays to the present, exist a wide range of imaging modalities development/advancement: radiation based and non-radiation based depict anatomy or functionality of organs or both development of contrast medium current imaging at molecular level COMPONENTS in Medical Imaging Patient Unique in terms of age, gender, physical and psychological characteristics, medical conditions, etc. Various types of imaging equipment to fulfill objectives of Equipment the imaging taking into considerations: type of information, patient characteristics, availability Radiological Specific examination for specific purpose of the examination examination. Understanding the cause of diseases can help to formulate preventive measures. Personal religious obligations towards preventing diseases can reduce the incidence of ill - health.
