It is based on individual perception and experiences. It could be playing online games, music, individual sports, team sports, watching movies, travel, reading or writing a book, etc. It is dependent on the individual who will do recreational activities. Recreational activities and leisure activities are somewhat similar in the sense that it is also based on individual perspective and it also gives relaxation, relief, and satisfaction. Although recreational activities may vary with individual perspective and experience, there are common recreational activities with different ages and genders. Some groups age below 15 may like to do recreational activities while ages 15 and above will find it immature or inappropriate with their age. The same goes for different genders. Some groups, for example, some women will not consider doing recreational activities that men usually do. Another example of Recreational Activity is Whaleshark Sighting. Obviously, not all people want to do this kind of activity as they have fear with the whale shark or on the water itself. Sharpening our minds can develop our thinking and creativity skills that is needed in recreational activities. Connect all dots using only four (4) continuous straight lines. Draw your Figure 1.3 answer in your notebook. Aside from mental warm up, we need to do physical warm up. This will prevent complications like muscle cramps, sprain and other injuries. Record yourself doing these exercises as a video. Do each exercise for 10 times and repeat the sets for 5 times with 2 minute break in each set. Recreational activities are fun and often done for enjoyment, amusement, relaxation, pleasure, or health benefit. It serves a break from monotony and a diversion from daily routine. Recreational activities are split into two groups, an indoor and an outdoor activity. Indoor Recreational Activities- is a variety of games, sports, or structured forms of play. It is typically carried out either in the home or specially constructed indoor. The simplest indoor recreational activities that can be done in home are card games and board games. Some kinds of indoor recreational activities like indoor sports and table-top games requires specific equipment and settings such as basketball, swimming, badminton, table tennis etc. Indoor recreational activities often strengthen bonds with family and friends. You can do some indoor recreational activities at home for relaxation, fun, and camaraderie especially now that we need to stay indoors as much as possible to avoid catching COVID- 19. Such activities themselves for an instance, fishing, hunting, backpacking, etc. are dependent on the environment practiced in. Outdoor Activities pursued enjoyment, exercise, challenge, camaraderie, relaxation, refreshment, and opportunity to better experience nature itself. Best example of recreational activities is mountaineering, cave exploring, camping and other activities which nature is part of itself as it enhances camaraderie, mental and physical health. This is to prevent having them misplaced, stolen, or become unnecessary clutters in the activity area than can cause accident Use only the equipment that you need in your recreational activities. In performing exercises and movement in general, practice good form first. Do not Hug the equipment. Return the equipment properly or leave the venue clean. Doing exercises in improper form deficit it's benefits. Do not monopolize the equipment. Allow everyone a fair use of the facilities. Check Yourself - practice proper hygiene and care. Take a bath or a deodorant if needed. Do not force yourself to engage in physical activity if you are feeling sick. Be Alert and Aware in the activity area. Bring back all equipment in place after use. Move on the double; do not loiter around the venue. Do not handle it until such time the personnel in charge gives instructions on how to operate the said equipment. Be nice, as a general rule! 5 Important Tips to think about prior to planning your recreation outing: Stay hydrated - Always bring a water bottle with you when participating in an activity. Know your limits - Do not plan activities that you are not capable of doing. Planning your activities around your family’s activity level will keep injuries from occurring due to exhaustion. Bring a First Aid kit - You should always carry a basic first aid kit with you whenever you do any sort of outdoor recreation. Use protective gear - Ensure that you have the necessary equipment to do your activity. Good equipment quality - Keep your equipment in good shape. LET US PRACTICE Since COVID-19 has come, our normal ways of life suddenly change, and for that, many activities that we normally do may put us at risk in catching the deadly virus. Thus, to prepare ourselves in future outdoor recreational activities, we can start by practicing some warm-up exercises. Record yourself doing the lockdown challenge. It is based on individual experience and perspective. People who does recreational activities often seeks pleasure, enjoyment, relaxation, refreshment, and health benefits. Recreational activities can be group into two namely indoor recreational activities and outdoor recreational activities. Indoor recreational activities are those activities done inside home or special settings that is inside a building. Meanwhile, outdoor recreational activities are those activities that sets the nature as it is settings. It is usually done outside the home and requires certain settings to do the said activities. Nonetheless, recreational activities can be any task or any activities that one love to do or one can achieve refreshment and enjoyment. 6 LET US APPRECIATE Sarah lives in Ubihan, Meycauayan, Bulacan, a place near a river with lots of fishpond, and free from pollution and noise of vehicles. She is living with her mother who is incapacitated to walk, and her father is the only one who is working for their family. Since her mother cannot walk or go outside, Sarah wants to make her mother happy. Think of outdoor activities that Sarah and her mother can do considering the setting of place and her mother’s condition. Write your answer in you answer sheet. Do your listed recreational activities consider their community? If not, then write outdoor activities that you can do in your environment. Write your answer on a separate sheet of paper.
