Homewoners Disaster preparedness listacles 1. **Evacuation Plan**- Have a clear evacuation plan in the event of a disaster. Practice your emergency plan with your family members. Choose an easy meeting place in case of separation and know routes to safe locations such as shelters etc. 2. **Emergency Kit-** Put together an emergency kit containing supplies such as water, first aid supplies, non-perishable food ex. can goods, flash lights, batteries, prescription medications. Life vest/s 3. **To Go Bag-** Have a bag packed and ready to go that is waterproof. This bag should include important documents such as: your passport, driver's license, NIB card, birth, and marriage, divorce certificate, adoption and child custody papers, insurance and medical papers. Also, cash on hand and credit cards, a change of clothing and shoes and feminine items for ex. Pads/tampons. Swiss Army Knife, cell phone and charger. Flash drive (with digital copy of important documents). Soap, Sanitizer and Wipes**.** 4. **Home Protection-** Protect your windows, doors, etc. by putting up hurricane shutters and sand bags. Trim trees and remove any debris that could be hazardous during a hurricane. 5. **Home owners insurance-** Consider purchasing flood insurance to protect your home and belongings from potential water damage. 6. **Back up digital files-** Create a digital copy of important documents and save on a flash drive. 7. **Fuel**- Ensure that generators and vehicles are filled with gas in the event of power outages and necessary evacuation. 8. **Stock Home with Food and Water:** Have a month's supply of food, water and other beverages to last during and post disaster. 9. **Emergency Contacts:** Keep a list of emergency contacts handy such as the police, shelters, hospitals, etc. 10. **Home Maintenance:** Conduct regular maintenance on your home including roof inspections, gutter cleaning and securing outdoor furniture or equipment. 11. **Pet Preparedness:** Store pets in a safe place. Have a supply of food, water, medications, and leash ready for evacuations. 12. **Stay Informed:** Monitor weather alerts and keep updated with the our social media pages for crucial information.
