Cont. They collect and analyze data to identify commu n ity n eeds prior to plan n in g, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environments. B) Professional characteristics include: 1- Should be Competent: ❑ Content competence: Knowledgeable: the educator should have complete information related to the topic presented. Skillful: the educator should be mastering the content. Mastering the skills during while demonstrating procedures to the learners. Cont. 1- Should be Competent: ❑ Content competence: Decision maker: decide what is important to teach. Effective teacher should be has experience in technology (related nursing filed- related to educational media). Teaches home management for special problems. Cont. ❑ Pedagogical competent: Effective helping patient to achieve the desired objectives. Be aware of alternative teaching methods or strategies. Be f le xible in selecting and implementing methods of instruction. Communicate the objectives to patient. Provide appropriate learning environment, and prepare appropriate teaching materials. Cont. ❑ Pedagogical competent: Ensure the patient's safety, alleviate patient's anxiety, Provide individualized written Instructions. Provide questions to make learner alert and share about topics. Monitor of the learner understanding and providing appropriate feedback. 2- Should be culturally sensitive: Understand the patient’s culture. Understand core values, believes, and customs. Develop the material in patient’s native languages 3-Should be ethically committed: Support right of individuals to make informed decisions. C o m m u n i c a t e t h e p o t e n t i a l b e n e f it s a n d consequences of services. Treat patient/ client fairly, objectivity regardless nation/culture. Respect right of individuals to be actively involved in all aspects of the educational process. Tell truthfully messages to patient. M a i n t a i n c o n f id e n t i a l i t y a b o u t p a t i e n t ’s information except committee suicide/infectious disease/legislation. 4- Have good Communication skills (verbally and nonverbally): Be empathy: it is identifying with the way another person fe e ls.
