One day, she found a grain of wheat. She tried to lift the grain. "Oof! This grain is very heavy," said the ant aloud. She pushed and pulled it but the grain of wheat did not budge from its place. "I need help," declared the ant. A grasshopper was passing by. "Please Miss Grasshopper, will you help me carry this grain of wheat till the anthill?” asked the ant. “I have my own work to do," said the grasshopper. The little ant then asked a spider for help. The spider was in a lazy mood. "I am resting in my web. Why don't you ask the dragonfly? He is a good friend of yours. He will help you." But the dragonfly was away to another garden and so was the cricket. The little ant began to cry, "My little babies must be hungry. No one is ready to help me carry this grain of wheat. Oh! What do I do?" A little bee that was flitting from flower to flower in search of nectar felt sorry for the ant. He asked the other bees to do his work. "While my friends do my work, I will go and help the ant,” he thought. The bee went and offered help. Together the ant and the bee rolled the grain upto the ant's hill. The ant was thankful to the bee. "Thank you," she waved. The bee smiled humbly and went back to his friends. ## Questions 1. Why did the ant need help? 2. Who refused to help the ant? 3. Why was the ant worried? 4. Who came forward to help the ant? 5. Do you also leave your own work to help your friends and other people?
