Science Class Let’s begin.. Work Plan 01 Routines Attendance, 5S, Exercise 02 Review Simple Machines 03 Discussion Heat and Energy 04 Activities Experiments 01 Routines Attendance/5S/Exercise 02 Review What is a Simple Machine? SIMPLE MACHINES Simple Machine ❏ It is a tool that changes the size or direction of a force. ❏ It can make work easier. Lever ❏ It is a bar that moves against an unmoving point called as fulcrum. ❏ Shovels and seesaws are levers. Ramp ❏ It is a surface that is straight and slanted. ❏ It can be used to move an object from one place to another. Wheel and Axle ❏ It is made of a wheel and a bar, or axle. ❏ The bar is connected to the center of the wheel. Pulley ❏ is a wheel that carries a flexible rope, cord, cable, chain, or belt on its rim. ❏ are used singly or in combination to transmit energy and motion. Screw ❏ a short, slender, sharp-pointed metal pin with a raised helical thread running around it and a slotted head, used to join things together by being rotated so that it pierces wood or other material and is held tightly in place. Wedge ❏ a piece of a substance (such as wood or iron) that tapers to a thin edge and is used for splitting wood and rocks, raising heavy bodies, or for tightening by being driven into something. Wedge ❏ Some examples of wedges that are used for separating might be a shovel, a knife, an axe, a pick axe, a saw, a needle, scissors, or an ice pick. But wedges can also hold things together as in the case of a staple, push pins, tack, nail, doorstop, or a shim. 03 Discussion Let us discuss!! How do we use energy? What is energy? When you eat food, you get energy to work and play. Energy makes things work and change. There are many different forms of energy. Example: Gasoline gives cars energy to move. Example: Satellite dishes send energy from space to make pictures on TVs. Heat, light, sound, and electricity are some forms of energy. We use different forms of energy everyday. Example: Windmills turn energy from wind into electricity. Example: Electrical energy can make lights work. What is heat? It is an energy that make things warm. We can get heat from burning things like wood, oil, or gas. People can use this energy to warm their homes. Did you know? Most of the heat energy on Earth comes from the Sun. What happens when wood burns? People also use heat to cook, so that there will be no bacteria that can harm humans. Rubbing things together is a source of heat too. You can feel the heat when you rub your hands together.
