HUMANITIES The academic study of human culture, condition, and values using methods that are mainly critical, speculative, or historical. Humanities cover a wide range of subjects, such as languages, literature, philosophy, religion, and arts. ARTS Latin word “ars” meaning, art, skill, or craft. also called (to distinguish it from other art forms) visual art, a visual object or experience consciously created through an expression of skill or imagination. NATURE OF THE ARTS A way of dealing with man’s internal world, personality and experiences. Art is subjective: employs the use of perception, insights, feelings and intuition. Art provides enjoyment and stimulation. FUNCTION OF ARTS The human need for expression. - to exhibit what is hidden in man’s inner world. His thoughts, emotions, imaginations, dreams and aspirations are expressed in his art.
