Introduction to Mechanics Content: 1. Force moment and couple, 2. Principle of transmissibility, 3. Varignon's theorem. 4. Resultant of force system- concurrent and non-concurrent coplanar forces. Parallelogram Law Of Forces Ques. Two force equal to P and 2P act on a rigid body. When the first force is increased by 100 N and the second force is doubled, the direction of the resultant remains unchanged. Determine the value of P. Ques. Two forces P and Q are inclined at an angle of 75°, magnitude of their resultant is 100 N. The angle between the resultant and the force P is 45°. Determine the magnitude of P and Q. Basic Laws Of Mechanics: Resolution of Force : State Varignon’s theorem. State Varignon’s theorem. Ques. Calculate the moment of 90 N force about point O for the condition ϴ = 15°. Also, determine the value of ϴ for which the moment about O is zero. Ques. The force system applied to an angle bracket is shown in Fig. Determine the magnitude, direction and line of action of the resultant force.
