FEATURES OF SCIENCE VARIED PERSPECTIVES ARE CONSIDERED Māori & pacific people have expert knowledge about the whenua, natural phenomena, native species and much more. This knowledge is key to collaborative problem solving to meet the needs of all people. USING SPECIFIC LANGUAGE, SYMBOLS & CONVENTION C 6 H12O6 Scientific ideas can be complex, meaning that particular conventions, language and symbols are required to communicate the specific details and data. These also allow for scientists of different languages & fields of expertise to understand each other’s research. UTILISING TECHNOLOGY Before the invention of the microscope, we didn’t know about the existence of cells or microorganisms! Many major developments and scientific discoveries have occurred (and will continue to happen) because of new technology. SCIENCE LINKS NEW EVIDENCE TO EXISTING IDEAS/THEORIES Science ideas are often developed and built upon as new evidence is discovered. Scientists do not discard previous ideas, but integrate the existing information with the new to come up with new & better explanations.
