Presentation by MS. BERNADETH M. DIMAANDAL OUR LADY OF CAYSASAY ACADEMY | 2024 In compliance with Republic Act 2067 (Science Act of 1958), scientific research is encouraged and supported in the country as an effective means to promote science, technology, and research and development for national progress. The current administration is committed to advancing science, technology, and innovation in the country, as stated in the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022. This six-year plan is designed to enhance science R&D productivity and innovation, accelerate technology adoption, and stimulate innovation in all economic sectors, laying the foundation for a globally competitive knowledge economy (NEDA, 2017). Sanchez, J. M. P., & Rosaroso, R. C. Science Investigatory Project Instruction: The Secondary Schools Journey. The Normal Lights, 13(1). https://doi.org/10.56278/TNL.V13I1.1234 Presentation by MS. BERNADETH M. DIMAANDAL OUR LADY OF CAYSASAY ACADEMY | 2024 The science research goals of the country are also pitched down to the basic education level. The national research goals are embedded in the basic education research agenda formulated by the Department of Education (DO No. 39, s. 2016), particularly in teaching and learning (T&L) agenda. Accordingly, in T&L, science studies may be integrated in instructional materials development, community contextualization, and performancebased assessments. In basic education, the latter two make science research possible to be conducted by elementary and high school students – through science investigatory projects (SIPs). Sanchez, J. M. P., & Rosaroso, R. C. Science Investigatory Project Instruction: The Secondary Schools Journey. The Normal Lights, 13(1). https://doi.org/10.56278/TNL.V13I1.1234 Presentation by MS. BERNADETH M. OUR LADY OF CAYSASAY ACADEMY | 2024 DIMAANDAL Moreover, DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI) and University of the Philippines National Institute of Science and Mathematics Education (2011) consider SIPs to develop scientific persons, by engaging the students to become curious, apply concepts and skills, and appreciate how science impacts the society. DOST-SEI further emphasizes that SIPs can provide effective medium in the development of S&T consciousness among the youth, promote public understanding and appreciate scientific breakthroughs, and improve the quality of S&T in the country. Lumabao DRANHS Chito R. Napitan, Ed.D Research Mentor Presented in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2016 at Phoenix, Arizona, USA It summarizes, usually in one paragraph of 250 words or less, the major aspects of the entire paper in a prescribed sequence that includes: Short background of the study Objectives of the study Materials and methods Results Conclusion and significance Abstract Background of the Study Objectives of the Study Materials and Methods Results Conclusion and Significance OLCA | 2024 This is where you describe the purpose for doing your science fair project or invention. It must present the following: Background of the Study Review of Related Literature Research Objectives Statement of the Problem Significance Page Introduction Background of the Study Improvised Plastic Waste Recycling Machine What is the current One of the major sources of garbage is the non-biodegradable or petroleum-based plastics. Plastics have been blamed for clogging up drainage systems, problem? causing soil and food chain contamination when polyethylene, the main component What are some initiatives of plastic, breaks down and releases toxic substances that leach into the soil and for undertaken to killing marine and land animals that mistakenly ingest plastics or become entangled in plastic bags (Rassas, 2007). In Manila alone, it generates 8,000 tons of plastic wastes solve/address the every year (Salvito, 2011). Although the sanitary engineers collect them along with problem? other refuse, they do not decompose or it would take hundreds of years for them to decompose. Others find way to lessen the proliferation of plastic and other garbage What is/are the through incineration. However, burning of non-biodegradable plastics can cause weakness/es of the serious health problems, air pollution and even destroys the ozone layer. This scenario solutions done before? motivated the researcher to recycle the non-biodegradable petroleum-based plastics into useful products such as wall decors by inventing an Improvised Plastic Waste What is unique about the Recycling Machine. solution that I am going The main objective of this study is to design, construct and evaluate the Improvised Plastic Waste Recycling Machine. In specific, this study aims to determine to provide through this the efficiency of the machine in terms of the number of decoratives produced for study? every kilogram of plastic wastes; the number of decorative produced for every hour of operation & its percent yield in the production of decorative materials. What is the aim of your This study could be beneficial to the community as it provides a source of study? livelihood to the residents by recycling the wastes into useful and marketable products. This study could help reduce the proliferations of plastic wastes in the What is the significance environment. of my study? Tips in Writing the Introduction 1. What is the current problem? - Provide a larger picture of a problem - Existence - Seriousness - Widespread - Support with Pertinent Data 2. What has been done so far to solve the problem? 3. What is/are the weakness/es of the solutions done before? - RRL - research gap 4. What is unique about the solution that I am going to provide through this study? - introduce and describe your study 5. What is the aim of your study? - state the objectives of your study 6. What is the significance of my study? - state the benefits of your study Introduction Statement of the Problem Limitations Objectives Significance Writing the Research Objective Tips in Writing the Research Objective Effect of Chicken Manure on the Growth of Mung Beans - For general objective: rephrase the title - The main objective of the study is (infinitive verb) and copy the title The main objective of the study is to determine the effect of chicken manure on the growth of mung beans. - For specific objective: identify the IV and DV IV - amount of chicken manure; - incorporate the variables in the statement DV - height and number of leaves of mung beans Specifically, this study aims to determine the effect of the different amount of chicken manure on the height and number of leaves of mung beans. The main objective of the study is to determine the effect of chicken manure on the growth of mung beans. Specifically, this study aims to determine the effect of the different amount of chicken manure on the height and number of leaves of mung beans. It should provide enough details so that others can repeat the experiments following the methods written in the research paper It should include significant steps such as gathering of materials, preparing of set-ups, tests and experimentations Official title of international/established procedures or tests used in experiments can be written instead of describing its detailed steps (ex. Rotary Evaporation) however if the test is modified, it must be indicated Materials and Methods Materials and Methods Experiment is Materials must no longer be certified by discussed in a scientist detail Materials and Methods Collection of sample is based on standard procedure or literature Materials and Methods Experimental Group Controlled Group Details of the procedures are included Using Experimental and Controlled Group on Mortality of A. aegypti Larvae Experimental Group Controlled Group Piper nigrum pellet Lemon grass San Francisco Tawa-tawa Normal Saline Solution Solution (Positive (Negative Control) Control) 1st = 7 1st = 8 1st = 6 2nd = 6 2nd = 8 2nd = 8 1st = 1 1st = 8 3rd = 8 3rd = 9 3rd = 7 2nd = 3 2nd = 8 4th = 5 4th = 10 4th = 9 3rd = 2 3rd = 7 5th = 9 5th = 7 5th = 7 4th = 1 4th = 6 Mean = 7 Mean = 8.4 Mean = 7.4 5th = 4 5th = 7 Mean = 2.2 Mean = 7.2 Comparing using Statistical Tools Comparing using Statistical Tools Materials and Methods All other variables are monitored and controlled Materials and Methods Disposal procedure is based on literature Materials and Methods Why use 0.05 level of significance? 50 40 Includes all data gathered from the experiments which can be presented through tables, graphs, figures, etc. 30 Tables, graphs, figures, etc. should EACH have their respective captions.
