1. The Lottery is a story where they use people\'s sacrifices for a good crop season. Tesse and her family participate in this tradition. The tradition starts with a black box and the head of each family picks a piece of paper from the box. Whichever paper has the black dot means that a person in their family will be the sacrifice. They will be stoned. Themes in *The Lottery*: - - - 2. Sylvia was decorating a box. She had not been seen for a while because she was ill and living with her aunt. Sylvia's neighbour bid on her box because he recognized the wallpaper. In the box it was a stillborn baby and she hated him for raping her. She killed the baby she got pregnant with by poisoning herself with berries. Themes in *The Box-Social*: - - 3. The family is poor.
