"She received her prize from the manager." 2. temperature noun the degree of internal heat of a person's body. "I'll take her temperature." 3. acquire verb buy or obtain (an asset or object) for oneself. "I managed to acquire all the books I needed." 4. pernicious adjective having a harmful effect, especially in a gradual or subtle way. "This whole line of thinking is pernicious." 5. embarrass verb cause (someone) to feel awkward, self-conscious, or ashamed. "She wouldn't embarrass either of them by making a scene." 6. mischievous adjective (of a person, animal, or their behavior) causing or showing a fondness for causing trouble in a playful way.
