ANTHROPOMETRY ⚫ Antropos: Human, Metron: Measurement (Latin) ⚫ Antropo+metri = Body measurements science ⚫ It is a special science that deals with human body size. ⚫ Environment sizes ⚫ Biomechanics analyzes; 1-Motion boundaries 2-Force requirement 3-Behavior speed These three above helps to detect the influence on the human body. Anthropometric Data: 1- Static (structural) anthropometric data: The measurement of body size in static position. Example: The height from the floor of articulations. It is used to determine the size of furniture and clothing. 2- Dynamic (functional) anthropometric data: The data that defines the motion of a portion of the body relative to a fixed point. Example:a standing person’ s max distance forward reach. It is used to describe job space volumes such as the maximum distance of easy and accessible area around the operator. It can be benefited from in panel design and the optimal placement of control buttons. 3-Powering anthropometric data: It is used in making the mechanical analysis of the load on the human body. It is used in identification of appropriate positions that can be encountered with during operation and finding the appropriate angle series of the articulations. Ergonomic Work Place Arrangements 1- Physiological concerns (work physiology) 2- Psychological aspects (color, plants, music) 3- Anthropometric aspects (workplace design) 4-Based on information systems(human- machine systems, indicators) 5-Based on security elements (direct and indirect stimulus) 6-In terms of environmental factors (physical, chemical risk factors).
