# Door Types By Operation ## Solid Laminated Door (Alpha) - Standard size 813 x 2032 thickness 42 mm. - Constructed from KD softwood and solid laminated core built up from 25 mm softwood strips crossbanded with 3 mm hardwood crossbanding and edged with 10 mm thick hardwood edges on stiles to match...

# Door Types By Operation ## Solid Laminated Door (Alpha) - Standard size 813 x 2032 thickness 42 mm. - Constructed from KD softwood and solid laminated core built up from 25 mm softwood strips crossbanded with 3 mm hardwood crossbanding and edged with 10 mm thick hardwood edges on stiles to match face veneer. - The crossbanded and edged "blank" is calibrated and the face veneer is applied over the edges to give the door a solid and uniform appearance. - Supplied with 2 concealed edges only and face veneer over edges. - Faces available: Veneer and plastic laminates. - Note: Not available in hardboard. - General: Used as internal door only. Mainly commercial and institutional use. - Mass ± 34 kg. ## Solid Laminated Exterior Door (Alpha) - Standard size 813 x 2032 thickness 42 mm. - Constructed from hardwood framing and solid laminated core built up from 25 mm softwood strips crossbanded with 3 mm hardwood crossbanding and finished with hardwood face veneer. - The solid laminated exterior door is supplied with exposed hardwood stiles only. Glued throughout with water and boil proof glue. - Faces available: Veneer only. - Note: Not available in hardboard and plastic laminates. - General: Used as an external door or internally in positions exposed to moisture. - Commercial and institutional use. - Mass ± 34 kg. ## Door Types By Operation: - **Swinging**: - Normally hinged on side jamb - may also be pivoted from head jamb and threshold. - Most convenient door type for entry and passage. - Requires space around doorway for door swing. - Always check clearance. - Most effective door type for acoustical and thermal insulation, and weather resistance. - **By-Pass Sliding**: - Provides an opening in a minimum amount of space but sacrifices acoustical insulation. - Opening 50% of doorway only. - Used in interiors primarily for visual screening. - Used on exterior as sliding glass doors. - Doors slide in overhead track and along guides or a track on the floor. - **Surface Sliding**:   - Exterior/interior usage.  - Similar to above but provides 100% opening of doorway.   - Surface hung with exposed overhead track. - **Pocket Sliding**:  - Interior usage. - Provides 100% opening of doorway by sliding into recess within width of wall.   - Provides doorway with a finished appearance when fully open.  - Used where normal door swing would interfere with the use of a space. - **Side-Hinged Folding**:   - Interior usage. - Provides almost 100% opening of doorway. - Uses overhead track and hinged door panels. - Used primarily as a visual screen to enclose closet and storage spaces. ## Flush Door - Description: 44 mm solid core flush door size 813 x 2032 mm with concealed edge strips and faced on both sides with sliced sapele veneer, hung to timber frame. ## Ledged and Braced Door - This type of door is usually used as a yard gate or similar - hung with strap hinges. - Description: 44 mm Wrot meranti ledged and braced door (gate) size 813 x 2032 mm formed of 22 x 114 mm top ledged and diagonal brace, 22 x 200 mm tongued, grooved and V-jointed one side boarding in narrow widths. ## Framed Ledged and Braced Door - Description: 44 mm Wrot meranti framed ledged and braced door size 813 x 2032 mm formed of 44 x 114 mm top rail and stiles, 22 x 114 mm middle ledge and diagonal braces, 22 x 200 bottom ledge, filled in on one side with 22 mm tongued, grooved and V-jointed one side boarding in narrow widths with V- joint next stiles and top rail, hung to timber (or steel) frame.
