Optical Media Act of 2003 is officially known as Republic Act No. 9239, it begun and held in Metro Manila July 28, 2003. It is a law approved in the Philippines to regulate the use and distribution of optical media such as CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and other similar formats used for storing data such as music, movies, software, and other contents. 02 PURPOSE The primary purpose of the Republic Act No.9239 was introduced to address the growing problem of piracy and intellectual property theft associated with optical media. As the digital age progressed, the rapid growth of illegal copying and distribution of copyrighted materials became a significant issue for content creators and distributors. HOW IT WORKS The RA9239 better known as the Optical Media Act of 2003 works by establishing a regulatory framework for the optical media industry in our country. Individuals Involved in mastering, manufacturing, replication, importing, and exporting optical media are required to register because of this law.
