**DEFECTS - PHONES** In previous modules, we mentioned that defective phones are also a priority for us to purchase, but they should be bought at a lower price due to their condition, as some may only be suitable for parts. In this module, we'll explore the different types of phone defects and how they impact the device's value. For defective phones, we use the defects as an upper hand in making low offers. But make sure to be quick and mindful of defective phones as there's a lot of competition for defective phones as well. 💡Tip: For Defective items, No matter how high the price is, we will make a very low offer and justify the reason behind our offer. For example, "Can you do \$30 as it's iCloud locked?" or "Can you do \$50? I want it for parts". Or "Can you do \$150 as the screen is cracked?" Make a low offer + justification. It also applies to other electronic devices, It's like giving assurance to the seller that you know it's defective and you'll take it as is. The most common physical defects in a phone are: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. These are the most common defects you will encounter, and each defect impacts the value of the phone based on its severity. We will now address each defect and how much it affects the phone\'s value depending on its specifics. **CRACKED BACK** Do know that when the seller is using a cellphone case to take a picture of the back of the phone it's likely because the back of the phone is cracked. A cracked back is more valuable than a cracked screen, simply because a cracked back is easier and cheaper to fix than a cracked screen, as it only takes a dollar to replace a cracked back and it takes \$100 to replace a cracked screen with a China brand screen replacement or an aftermarket screen and that doubles when you replaced it with an original Apple Screen or Samsung Screen. When the back of the phone is cracked, its value is only slightly affected. Typically, you can deduct around 10% from the overall value. Here are some scenarios to consider if you encounter these defects and how you should address them. - - Note: Good condition means No defects - cracks, no parts broken, no parts replaced, etc. - - - - - ![](media/image12.png) **NOTE:** The prices stated above are just an example. Always price check phones, as prices fluctuate over time. Before making an offer, ensure that we secure a minimum profit of at least \$150. Remember, the greater the profit, the better. Always aim for higher profits while securing the deal. **CRACKED SCREEN (FRONT)** - - - - - - Here's a look at when the phone has a screen protector: Look at the edges closely, you can see that there is an additional layer on top of the screen which is the Screen Protector. ![](media/image10.png) Here are some examples of what a cracked screen looks like. **There are three types of cracked screens, each affecting a phone's value differently:** 1. - 2. - - - - 3. - By asking the right questions, you can assess the condition and set a fair price based on the phone's usability. **SCUFFS & SCRATCHES** - - - ![](media/image11.png) The picture on the left shows severe scratches on the phone that significantly affect the value. The one on the right has some deep scratches on the screen that affect the value of about 10-15%. **LCD Damage (Burned, Bleeding, Dots, and Blackout)** - **Types of LCD Damage** 1. - ![](media/image7.png) *Please see the picture above for your reference.* - 2. - *Please see the picture above for your reference.* - 3. - - *Please see the picture above for your reference.* - 4. - *Please see the picture above for your reference.* - **Summary: Impact on Value** - - - - **Water Damage** - - **Buttons, Speaker and Charging Port Damage** - - - **Replaced Parts** - - - Here's some example pictures where you can say that some parts have been replaced. **IMPORTANT:** The prices provided above are just examples. It's crucial to price check each item on eBay to ensure you're offering the right amount. While the percentages mentioned are accurate, you don't always need to calculate them each time---sometimes, a quick mental estimate will save you time. Don't worry; we'll teach you how to make precise offers in the upcoming modules.
