english lang paper 2 Ms gardner notes: be clear - don’t use lengthy sentences if you get into level 4, do cant go down paragraphs must be easy to follow have to be sophisticated - not about how much information except for q2 take everything further than other candidates - expand - connotations if have time, instead of adding a new point, expand further on a one already written question 2: summary of the 2 sources the 2 questions are different - don’t overlap it is nothing about the writer’s opinions and perspectives tell the examiner as much information as you can - not about experiences about what the reader understands how much information can be given to the reader - e.g trains: food, shelter, how big lots of detail english lang paper 2 1 use information from inference inference gets higher marks than blatant information do not need to analyse language draw links between the two: use ‘both’ for comparison instead of ‘in source a and … revision: read online articles and make notes question 4: comparison of perspectives 20 mins 3-4 developed comparisons pay attention to shift in perspectives - from beginning compared to end everything should go back to the attitude of the writer methods based question: have to show awareness of why the writer does this and how ( language analysis, order of information, structure) write notes on extract of what their perspective is how the perspectives contrast no need for a thesis statement - can if have time Question 5: be creative knowledge + emotion ambitious and thoughtful vocabulary although be fluent plan with an aim at the end same mark scheme for q5 as in paper 1 construct clearly english lang paper 2 2 don’t over right when doing from another pov: clearly write at beginning revision: read broadsheet newspapers reference current events government climate change english lang paper 2 3
