General Advice
- Use information from inferences rather than simply stating facts. Inferences are valued more than simply relaying readily available information.
- Don't analyze language unless specifically instructed to do so. However, analyzing language can help in writing the essay. Pay attention when the question asks for language analysis.
- Use "both" to compare different perspectives instead of phrases such as "in source a and source b".
- Review other articles and take notes on perspectives.
- Be aware of current events, government issues, and climate change.
- If presenting a different point of view, clearly state it from the beginning of the essay section.
- Avoid including irrelevant details. Review the question and answer.
