G7-MSCS-UNIT -1 (24-25) Lesson 1: What is meant by Duties and Responsibilities Lesson 2: Duties and Responsibilities of Parents Towards their Children Lesson 3: Duties and Responsibilities of Sons and Daughters _________________________________________________________________________ Learning Objective:- ❖ To define duties & responsibilities. ❖ To analyse the responsibilities of children towards their parents. ❖ To understand and analyse the Child Protection law in the UAE. ________________________________________________________________ I Define the following ★ Responsibility : To fulfil a required action optimally and on time. ★ Duties :The behaviour an individual shall commit to, and his actions according to his/her belief in the necessity of its application for society ★ Constitution : Constitution is a set of rules and laws. It confirms the rights of an individual, and their responsibilities within the society or community. II. Answer the following 1.What are the responsibilities of children towards their parents? Ans : The most important obligations of children towards their parents include: - ★ Respecting their parents’ opinions and discussing controversial issues with them ★ Being kind to them and never scolding them ★ Listening to them and answering their questions ★ Accepting their requests and trying to make them happy ★ Getting close to them, seeking their love and never making them feel indebted ★ Show kindness to them even after their death 2. How does the UAE protect children? Briefly describe ‘Wadeema’ Child Protection Law? Ans : UAE society welcomed the State’s efforts to provide full protection for children, through the declaration of the “Wadeema” Child Protection Law. It was named in memory of the eight-year-old girl Wadeema, who was killed by her father in 2012 in a crime that shook UAE society. His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan (God Save Him), President of the UAE, declared this Federal Law on 8 March 2016 and it entered into force on June 15th 2016. It highlights the UAE's role in preserving children's rights to live, survive and develop, and in providing all the opportunities required to help achieve this objective. It also protects the child from negligence, exploitation and abuse. 3. What are the important strategic plans of the Ministry of Education to be fulfilled between 2017 to 2021. Ensure inclusive quality education including pre-school education. Achieve excellent leadership and educational efficiency. Ensure quality, efficiency and good governance of educational and institutional performance, including the delivery of teaching. Ensure safe, conducive and challenging learning environments. Attract and prepare students to enroll in higher education internally and externally, in light of labour market needs. Answer the following. 1. What precautions can we take to protect ourselves from fire at home? Ans: Test smoke alarms. Smoke alarms must have devices in every home. Install carbon monoxide detectors. Keep an eye on cooking. Be careful with heaters. Inspect electrical cords. Have an escape plan. 2. How should our immediate response be if your clothes caught on fire? Ans: It is essential not to panic and run. Running fans the flames and increases the fire. Heat rises so cover your face with your hands to protect the delicate eyes and skin on the face and to protect airways from the smoke. Drop to the ground and roll backward and forward immediately. 3. What are the first aid steps that can be taken if a person is choking? Ans: ★ If someone is choking, encourage them to cough. ★ Bend them forward and give up to 5 back blows to try and dislodge the blockage. ★ If they are still choking, give up to 5 abdominal thrusts: hold around the waist and pull inwards and upwards above their belly button. 4. Explain the risks of having plastic in the ocean. Ans: Most plastics in the ocean break down into tiny pieces and are eaten by birds, fish and other sea creatures. This may cause lacerations, infections, reduced ability to swim, and internal injuries. When humans catch the fish and eat them, they’re eating the toxic plastic as well. The chemicals from the plastic can dissolve into the water, with a harmful effect on the environment. 5. Write a short note on ‘The Emirates Red Crescent’. Ans: “The Emirates Red Crescent is a volunteer humanitarian organisation that supports official authorities in times of peace and war. It was established on 31 January 1983. In times of peace, it organises awareness programmes, provides first aid, protects and controls epidemics, pays attention to social issues, etc. During war times, it provides first aid to the injured, protects civilians and shelters the displaced and homeless. searches for missing persons and reunites separated families. The Emirates Red Crescent highlights the value of creative and effective cooperation with humanitarian and charitable organisations locally and internationally to meet the needs of the vulnerable and needy. Natural features in China include rivers and waterways that have enabled China to be a prosperous area for thousands of years. The Yellow or Huang River and Yangtze Rivers are China's longest rivers and are connected by the ancient Grand Canal. 2. Write a short note on the Great Wall of China. Ans:- One of the most famous man-made structures of China is the Great Wall of China. Built in stages between 200 BCE and 1644 CE, the Great Wall was constructed to protect China from invaders from the North. It stretched for over 21,196 km, making it the longest structure 3.
