SHANNON-WEAVER MODEL Shannon (American Mathematician) Weaver (Scientist) In 1948, Shannon wrote an article "A Mathematical Theory of Communication" Became Shannon-Weaver Model of Communication or “Mother of all Models." Feedback – response from the Receiver. + Positive = no intervention of noise. - Negative = intervention of noise. ADVANTAGE Communication as a two-way process created group interaction. DISADVANTAGE Taken as a "misleading representation of the nature of human communication." BERLO’S SMCR MODEL OF COMMUNICATION Depends on Four Factors: ○Communication Skills ○Attitude ○Knowledge ○Socio-cultural systems
