POPULORUM PROGRESSIO #23 :Development of Peoples ENCYCLICAL OF POPE PAUL VI He who has the goods of this world and sees his brother in need and closes his heart to him, how does the love of God abide in him?" (21) Everyone knows that the Fathers of the Church laid down the duty of the rich toward the poor in no uncertain terms. As St. Ambrose put it: "You are not making a gift of what is yours to the poor man, but you are giving him back what is his. You have been appropriating things that are meant to be for the common use of everyone. The earth belongs to everyone, not to the rich." (22) These words indicate that the right to private property is not absolute and unconditional. Romans 12:6-8 “Each gift is a result of God's grace, and people should use their gifts in a way that matches their faith. Some examples of gifts include prophecy, serving, and teaching.” MOTHER IGNACIA: MOTHER IGNACIA’S PRAYER LIFE AND RESPONSE TO A LIFE OF SOLITUDE Topic 3 Prayer “Prayer is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God.” (CCC # 2559) Prayer a personal faith-relating to God. (cf. NCDP 321) God desires us “to pray on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” (Ephesians 6:18) Why do we pray? We turn to prayer because it is the most personal way : to experience God, to encounter Him and, to grow in knowledge of Him. Prayer Etymology Prayer - Latin word - “Precari” - “to entreat or to beg” The life of prayer is the habit of being in the presence of the Triune-holy God and in communion with him. This communion of life is always possible because, through Baptism, we have already been united with Christ. PRAYER is Christian insofar as it is communion with Christ and extends throughout the Church, which is his Body. Spanish time, the The CHURCH Christian Life was the center of of : M. 1. SDG #3 : Good Health and Well-Being Spiritual well-being is an essential component of overall health. Her practices encourage a holistic approach to well-being that includes spiritual health, which is increasingly recognized as important for overall quality of life. Sollicitudo rei Socialis, no. 39 “ Positive signs in the contemporary world are the growing awareness of the solidarity of the poor among themselves, their efforts to support one another, and their public demonstrations on the social scene which, without recourse to violence, present their own needs and rights in the face of the inefficiency or corruption of the public authorities. By virtue of her own evangelical duty the Church feels called to take her stand beside the poor, to discern the justice of their requests, and to help satisfy them, without losing sight of the good of groups in the context of the common Good.” A.Courage to Venture into the Unknown She ventured into the unknown in order to follow the path God wanted for her. M Ignacia fought for her rights in silence. She relied on her innate understanding of herself as a woman. She showed her capacity as a woman to be autonomous. She made decisions for herself.
