(Feelings are a gift given by God, the highest being love) #6 - Humans are blessed with a conscience. ( Our conscience is a voice in our head to do right compared to wrong) #7 - Humans are able to sin. (From our free will we are able to sin, sinning goes against God, it is shown when we fail to love our neighbor or each other. What is the common good? Know the different elements. The common good is the principle that society should be made in a way where everyone in the community benefits. This includes access to basic needs like good, shelter, water, education, and healthcare. What is human dignity? How do we get human dignity? Human dignity is the belief that everyone has worth and value because we are all made in Gods image. We cant “get” human dignity because it is inherent, but we can show it. Unit 3 What are the three (3) categories of prayer? Adoration - Praise and worship. Thanksgiving - Giving God thanks. Petition - Asking God for help. Mortal Sin : A complete break in ones relationship with God, to turn completely away from his love. (ie Murder) Venial Sin : Does not separate us from God but represents a “cooling period” in the relationship ie gossiping and lying. Social Sin : Describes human made structures ( Racism, sexism, and religious intolerance) Know these principles of Catholic Social Teachings; rights & responsibilities, common good, human dignity, solidarity. Rights & Responsibilities: Every person has rights, and with those rights come responsibilities to the community. Common Good: The well-being of all, especially the vulnerable, should be prioritized. Human Dignity: Every person has inherent worth because they are created by God. Solidarity: We are one human family, and we are called to stand with the poor and oppressed. How does being made in God's image connect to human dignity and land stewardship? We have traits that we inherit from God that make us in his image like compassion, morality, conscience, love, and more. We are worthy of honour and respect, our human dignity is innate ( born with it ) while also saying no one has the right to take it away like bullying or lack of access to rights and basic necessities, with the biggest one being sweatshops. We have dignity because we are made in Gods image. Stewardship now means to care for the world, this also means being able to take care of ourselves and each other because we are all connected. What is equity? How does this connect to justice? Equity manes providing people with what they need to be successful, accommodating to everyone's needs. This is connected to justice because we are called for fairness in how we use our resources and opportunities are distributed. Unit 5 What are the characteristics of a healthy relationship? Some signs of a healthy relation is one that is built on trust, communication, respect, honesty and support. Where each person values the other to create a safe and loving environment. What are traits of an unhealthy relationship? An unhealthy relationship shows signs of control, manipulation, dishonesty, lack of honesty “you statements” and emotion/physical abuse. It would result in a person feeling unsafe and disrespected. What is your sense of self? Why is it important for your relationships to know who you are and what you value? Sense of self is understanding who are you, your values, and how to create boundaries for yourself which are all key factors in knowing how to form a healthy relationship. Being able to know yourself and who you are allows you to communicate your needs are be able to talk about how you feel in an uncomfortable situation, which in all can help make a positive and respectful relationship. What are the different types of love? Companionship - Love or connection you have with someone to share activities or goals with, which doesn't involve emotional distress. Sexual Love - Love of a mutual connection between two people. For example a couple. Family Love - A love the sprouts naturally. Friendship - A love between friends with mutual support, connected with deep emotional attachment. Charity - The highest form of love, unconditional love - a love that is willing to sacrifice.
