ACTS OF MAN These are acts which are mostly physiological and instinctive. Also, these are acts that are done without due knowledge, freedom or intention. HUMAN ACTS These are acts that are done knowingly, intentionally, and freely. They are the result of what we think and desire and these reveal our moral fiber. HUMAN ACTS Comprise responsible behavior because we are answerable for them. HUMAN ACT: GOOD OR BAD? We can know by reflecting on the factors involved in any moral evaluation. 1. OBJECT OF THE ACT The very action itself. It is called finis operis and it constitutes the matter of the human act. 2. INTENTION OF THE DOER The intention is the purpose of one’s behavior. It is called finis operantis and it constitutes the form of the human act. ALL HUMAN ACTS ARE PURPOSEFUL For a human act to be good, both the OBJECT OF THE ACT and the INTENTION OF THE DOER must be GOOD. Either of the two is BAD then a HUMAN ACT is considered as BAD. 1) What was the object of the act (the action taken by the individuals)? 2) What was the intention (motivation behind the action)? 3) was the action morally right or wrong and why?
