Nutrition -- Lecture 1 **RVT's Role in Nutrition** - Selecting appropriate diets for patient care - Ensuring patients' nutritional needs are being met - Educating and advocating for prescription diets but also finding suitable alternatives when required **Nutrition in Vet Medicine** Nutrition is important in: - Immune function - Disease prevention +/- disease control measures (you cannot cure disease with nutrition) - Growth and developments: Muscles, skeletal, skin & coat Common Types of Diets - Prescription/therapeutic diets - Commercially available diets; grain free, Non GMO, Organic ect - Raw diets -- precautions need to be taken, (kids?
