It is not part of compulsory education; It is optional stage. The attendance at this stage is not considered a prerequisite for admission to primary education. Basic Education Stage the student enrolls at the age of six, and the study takes nine years. It is divided into two cycles: - primary education, which lasts for six years. - preparatory education, which lasts three years. It aims to develop the capabilities and readiness of students, satisfy their tendencies, and provide them with the necessary number of values, behaviors, scientific and professional knowledge and skills that are consistent with the conditions of their different environments. Secondary Education Stage the student joins it after completing the basic education stage. It is divided into two tracks: - the general secondary education, which lasts for 3 years, and it prepares the student to enroll in university education or post-secondary “sub-university” education (technician training institutes). - technical secondary education (3 or 5 years), and it prepares the student to join the labor market.
