# Verifying That Your System Qualifies for Windows (5 of 7) * BIOS/UEFI Firmware on the Motherboard (continued): * Most computers today give you the option of using UEFI or legacy BIOS which is called UEFI CSM * Consider the following: * UEFI mode is required if the hard drive is larger than 2.2 TB or is using the GPT partitioning system * UEFI and the GPT partitioning system work only with 64-bit versions of Windows 10/8/7 * UEFI has a security system called Secure Boot which helps prevent malware from hijacking a system during or before the operating system load * The only times you might select CSM mode are when you use a legacy MBR hard drive or install a 32-bit version of Windows 10/8/7
