# Magnetism This presentation slide discusses magnetism. **Forces Between Magnets:** Forces of attraction exist between a magnet and objects made of iron, nickel, and cobalt. These materials are called ferromagnetic. **Magnetic Poles:** * Opposite poles attract. * Similar poles repel. **Model of Elementary Magnets:** * Magnetizable materials contain small areas that behave like magnets. * These areas are called elementary magnets. The slide also includes diagrams of elementary magnets, showing the north and south poles. Each elementary magnet has a north and a south pole. Opposite poles attract and similar poles repel.
