TECHNOLOGY- BASED ARTS WALK THROUGH ON THE GRADE 10 ARTS SECOND QUARTER What is computer/ digital art? - art that makes use of computer - It is used as an essential part of the creative and presentation method -computers permit artists to save progressive stages of a work and to create an infinite number of variations - artists are excited about the “trial- and-error” capability for “seriation”, producing a series of images from a single image - artists can also test out color move shapes around, and recycle pictures quickly and easily while leaving the original intact - The computer allows the artists to manipulate scale and image(they can look at a work at normal size, zoom in for close- up work, or work in layers) - -using computer as a design tool enables the artist to “see” design operations that involve repeating and varying images in fascinating and unbelievable ways like: cut and paste * rotate *shrink *texturize *fragment *pixelate * make transparent * trace edges *distort * move * crop * ripple *toggle * flop *blur * twirl *superimpose * layer *duplicate * enlarge What is computer/ digital art? PIXEL size can be manipulated, creating effects similar to weaving and mosaics. Fractalizing Morphing Spherizing Computers are very widely used by people today that the art that can be produced through the use of technology has become remarkably pervasive We are probably surrounded by dozens of images and objects designed digitally, all of which were initially conceived and visualized with the help of a computer. Examples: 1. Mobile phone- photos and videos 2. Digital photography( point-and-shoot and DLSR cameras) – in creating photo art 3. Digital painting and imaging 4. Computer-generated images 5. Videos (TV and Film) – in making advertisements, films, documentaries and games Examples: 1. Mobile phone- photos and videos 2.
