**Lecture in ART (2^nd^ Quarter)** **TECHNOLOGY BASED-ARTS** **TBA is essentially computer-generated or manipulated. Today's computer artists employ the ever-expanding powers of image manipulation programs and applications to create their works which can appear in an entire range of media- whether as a physical output or virtual experience.** **Technology Based-Arts includes:** 1. **Computer/ Digital Arts** 2. **Mobile Phone** 3. **Computer-generated Images** 4. **Digital Photography** 5. **Video Games/ Digital Painting** I. **Computer/Digital Art** - **Make use of electronic and mechanical devices, rather than the artist's own hand.** - **Uses an essential part of the creative and presentation process.** - **Using new technologies for the digital, computer-based composition, display, reproduction of images.** II. **Mobile Phone Arts (Photos and Videos)** - **Digital cameras capable of taking videos are everywhere these days. They are built into tablets, laptops, and even mobile phones. These cameras are boon to many ordinary photographers.** - **The best camera is the one that is with you, your "take anywhere camera phone". Nowadays, you can take pictures anywhere as long as your mobile phone is with you.** III. **Computer-Generated Images** - **Computer-generated Image (CGI) can be defined as any image that is created with the use of a computer-based processor or program.** - **In producing Computer-Generated Images you will use different computer programs that should be install to your computer.** IV. **Digital Photography (Point-and-Shoot and DSLR)** - **Digital photography is a form of photography that uses cameras containing arrays of electronic photo detectors to capture images focused by a lens, as opposed to an exposure on photographic film.** - **The captured images are digitized and stored as a computer file ready for further digital processing, viewing, digital publishing or printing.** **The differences of Point-and-Shoot to Digital Single Lens Reflex** **Point-and-Shoot** **Digital Single Lens Reflex** ------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- **Controls are all automatic for example: Autofocus** **Manual or automatic control options** **Single, permanent lens** **Removable, interchangeable lenses** **Lower resolution** **Higher resolution** **Compact; can easily slip into one's pocket** **Bulkier** **Affordable; a lot cheaper** **Expensive** **These are some of the Basics of learning Digital Photography.** 1. **Train on the use of the digital camera** **The photographer should be familiar with the following:** a. **ISO setting refer to the camera's sensitivity to light. The camera's metering modes are for calculating the proper lighting and exposure.** b. **The shutter is a part of the camera that regulates the length of time or exposure that light is allowed to fall on a digital camera sensor. The faster the subject is mowing, the faster the shutter speed should be.** c. **The aperture, also referred to as f/stop, is the setting that controls the size opening of the lens that allows light into the camera. The smaller the aperture number, the larger the opening.** d. **Another important thing to learn in photography is the picture's depth of field or the area of the image that appears sharp.** 2. **Proper handling of digital camera** - **One key to achieve quality photos starts in the way the photographer uses and handles the digital camera.** - **Always ensure a steady camera before taking any shot.** 3. **Pay attention to the subject** - **Making pleasing pictures has to do with composing or working on the frame, and knowing how the ''rule of thirds'' works.** - **To follow the rule of thirds you would align your subject along one of those four lines or at the intersection of those lines (shown by the yellow circles).** 4. **Capture photos from unique angles** **Great pictures are taken in many ways. For example:** A. **Tilt Shot** B. **Soft Focus** C. **Framing shot** D. **Backlighting shot** E. **Panning shot** F. **Freeze-frame shot** G. **High-angle shot** V. **Video Games** - **A video game is an electronic game that involves human interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a video device such as a TV screen or computer monitor.** - **The word *video* in *video game* traditionally referred to a raster display device, but it now implies any type of display device that can produce two- or three-dimensional images.** VI. **Digital Painting** - **Is a method of creating an art object (painting) digitally and/or a technique for making digital art in the computer.** - **As a method of creating an art object, it adapts traditional painting medium such as acrylic paint, oils, ink, watercolor, etc. and applies the pigment to traditional carriers, such as woven canvas cloth, paper, polyester etc. by means of computer software driving industrial robotic or office machinery (printers).** - **As a technique, it refers to a computer graphics software program that uses a virtual canvas and virtual painting box of brushes, colors and other supplies. **
