Define turath (Arabic heritage), explain its relationship to the Arabic language and identity, and the ways in which it has been disseminated from the 13th till the 19th century. 2. Explain the various periods of the Topic 2 exam and history of Arabic- Islamic Topic 4 Exam civilization (from the post-Abbasid up to the early modern period). Topic 5 exam 3. Total 100% Graded Work: N Explanation of Assessments Graded work is divided into: Reading Quizzes (20%) these typically involve reading assigned course material and then complete an open book quiz of MCQ and TF questions or participating in an in-class activity. DEPARTMENT OF ARABIC AND TRANSLATION STUDIES COURSE SYLLABUS Topic 1, 2, 3 and 4 Exams (15% each x 4 = 60%) are exams that test your knowledge after being formally lectured on each topic. Final Exam (20%) The final exam will be on al-Nahda topic. Things you are required to do: You are required to attend classes and actively participate in the class discussions. If you don’t attend and participate well, you will lose grades. You are required to read all the assigned material. If you don’t read, you will not do well in the assessments. You are required to complete all HW assignments and assessments. If you miss one, you miss the grade. You are required to submit all HW assignments via iLearn. All assignments will be due by the end of the submission day (11:59 pm). You are required to upload your photo/avatar on your iLearn portfolio. Things that are preferable to do: During the class, if you want to talk, please raise your hand. Keep out unrelated topic questions for one-to-one meeting at office hours There will be weekly office hours according to the above schedule. Send me an email if you cannot attend the scheduled timings and when you are free to meet. O Attendance Students in this course are required to follow the AUS Attendance Policy as outlined in the AUS Undergraduate Catalog.
