Children with the disease may have more complications. **Symptoms (Acute Phase):** * Fever (100.4°F for 5 days or more) * Conjunctivitis (inflammation of the conjunctiva) * Strawberry tongue (red and swollen) * Painless peeling of palms/soles * Rash * Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) **Symptoms (Subacute Phase):** * Fever diminishing * Irritability reduced * Rash reducing/disappearing * Conjunctivitis improving (without exudate) * Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle - may develop) **Symptoms (Convalescent Phase):** * Lingering symptoms, inflammation * Lab values return to normal * Elevated platelet count (↑PLT) * Arthritis **Diagnostics:** * Fever * Echo (Ultrasound) * Inflammatory markers (PLT) in lab tests **Treatment** * IVIG (intravenous immunoglobulin) given within 10 days of fever onset * Delay immunizations for 5-11 months post-onset, or after full course of the treatment * Aspirin therapy * Monitoring of the disease's progression for 6-8 weeks after diagnosis **Complications:** * Risk for coronary artery aneurysm, thrombosis * Desquamation (peeling) of palms and soles * Cracking lips **Note:** The document also mentions the need for a low cholesterol diet.
