# 2/8 W3 Lecture 1 ## Mental Health Processes - 1 in 5 Australians aged 16-85 have had a mental health concern - When something big happens, it can take 1-2 years to experience the fallout of mental health. - For example, a pandemic. - The second largest cause of death - Governments are responsible for helping fund things related to mental health. - The demand for mental health has been for outpacing supply. - There are very high costs to support needs, not to include those with complex issues - Many things can contribute to mental health issues. ## Decolonization - Australia needs to decolonize mental health systems and empower more Indigenous psychologists.
