Seeds Prepared By : Hend Almahdi Fenugreek Available products Terpenyl acetate Cineol Uses : -Cardamom is an aromatic, carminative, stimulant, stomachic, expectorant, diaphoretic, digestive, appetizer, and flavoring agent. -It is used in the treatment of respiratory disorders like asthma, bronchitis, cough, nausea, vomiting, flatulence , headache, diarrhea, colds,, also used as a spice in cooking. Colchicine Nux vomica seeds Geographical Source : Linseed is cultivated in many sub-tropical countries such as South America, India, United States, Canada, England, Russia, Greece, Italy, Spain, and Algeria. Linamarin Uses : Linseed oil has emollient, expectorant, diuretic, demulcent, and laxative properties. Linseed is used in form of poultices for gouty and rheumatic swelling. The mucilaginous infusion is used internally as a demulcent in colds, coughs, bronchial affections, inflammation of the urinary tract, gonorrhoea, and diarrhoea. Nutmeg Synonyms : Semen myristicae, Myristica. Biological Source :Nutmeg is the kernel of the dried ripe seed of Myristica fragrans Houtten., belonging to family Myristicaceae. Geographical Source :A native of Molucca islands in Indonesia. It is also cultivated in West Indies, Banda Islands, Archipelago, Malayan, Sumatra, and in Guiana. Chemical Constituents: Nutmeg contains of 5 to 15% volatile oil, The volatile oil contains myristicin, geraniol, borneol, pinene, camphene, and dipentene. It also contains eugenol, safrol, p-cymene and isoeugenol in small quantity. Chemical Constituents: Uses : Nutmeg is aromatic, carminative, flavoring agent. Relieving Nausea and vomiting. It has narcotic action and peripherally it irritates and produces anesthetics action Oil of Nutmeg is used to conceal the taste of various drugs and as a local stimulant to the gastrointestinal tract. Note : since it irritates intestine and uterus it can cause abortion.
