    • Cultivated in West Indies, Banda Islands, Archipelago, Malayan, Sumatra, and Guiana.
    • Contains volatile oil (5 to 15%), which includes myristicin, geraniol, borneol, pinene, camphene, and dipentene.
    • Also contains eugenol, safrol, p-cymene, and isoeugenol in small quantities.
    • Aromatic, carminative, flavoring, and relieves Nausea and vomiting.
    • Has a narcotic action and irritates the intestine and uterus, potentially causing abortion.
    • Oil of Nutmeg is used to conceal the taste of various drugs and as a local stimulant to the gastrointestinal tract.
