Hyponymy Hyponymy is a semantic connection between a broader term (hypernym) and a narrower term (hyponym). POETRY Poetry, derived from the Greek word "poiesis" meaning "making," is a literary art form that employs aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language to convey deeper meanings beyond just the literal interpretation. Each piece of poetry is called a poem and is created by a poet. the elements of poetry are: Form 1. Stanza - A stanza is a group of lines in a poem, forming a unit of thought or structure. Sound 1. Rhyme - A poem may or may not have a rhyme, a poem with no rhyme is called a free verse poem. 2. Rhythm - In poetry, rhythm is the pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables, like the beat of music Imagery and Figurative Language 1. Imagery - uses vivid descriptions and sensory details to create a clear and image in the reader‘s mind. 2. Figurative Language - uses words creatively to make writing more interesting and powerful. Journey 1. Theme - the main idea or message of a story. It's the big takeaway, the lesson the author wants you to learn. 2. Reflective Thought - about going beyond the surface and exploring the deeper implications, connections, and lessons learned. Speaker and Persona 1. Speaker - a speaker is the voice or perspective of a poem 2. Persona - the voice or perspective that a poet uses to speak through Active Voice and Passive Voice In grammar, voice refers to the relationship between a verb and its subject. Active Voice and Passive Voice Difference Active Voice - The subject performs the action of the verb. Example: "The cat chased the yarn." Passive Voice - The subject receives the action of the verb. Example: "The yarn was chased by the dog." THANK YOU
