## Plant Cell - Contains the same organelles, but with a cell wall and chloroplasts. ### Cell Wall - Surrounds the cell membrane; provides shape and support for the cell ### Chloroplast - Where photosynthesis occurs - Contains chlorophyll. ## Photosynthesis It is the process by which green plants and other organisms transform light energy into chemical energy. - Plants do this since they can't eat to get energy, unlike animals. - 6H2O + 6CO2 → C6H12O6 + 6O2 - This means that the reactants, six carbon dioxide molecules and six water molecules, are converted by light energy captured by chlorophyll into a sugar molecule and six oxygen molecules. - The sugar is used for energy and oxygen is the by-product and is released.
