**PURPOSE** The purpose of this document is to create a standard for issuing a Notice of Hazard, creating a Notice of Hazard call type in the CAD, and disposition of paperwork from issuing a Notice of Hazard. **POLICY** It is the policy of the Bernalillo County Fire Department to issue a Notice o...
**PURPOSE** The purpose of this document is to create a standard for issuing a Notice of Hazard, creating a Notice of Hazard call type in the CAD, and disposition of paperwork from issuing a Notice of Hazard. **POLICY** It is the policy of the Bernalillo County Fire Department to issue a Notice of Hazard for violations of the adopted fire code and amendments adopted by the Bernalillo County Commission. Utilizing a Notice of Hazard book, a Notice of Hazard shall be issued, Paperwork shall be submitted to the Fire Marshal's office, and Disposition of paperwork will be completed by the Fire Marshal's office. **PROCEDURE** I. **NOTICE OF HAZARD BOOKS** A. A Notice of Hazard book with triplicate copies will be carried in each Bernalillo County Fire & Rescue unit. 1. Replacement books are available from the Fire Marshal's office. II. **ISSUING A NOTICE OF HAZARD** A. Upon identification of either a violation of the Fire Code, or a violation to an amendment of the fire code, a Notice of Hazard will be issued to the person responsible for the violation. 1. All applicable sections of the Notice of Hazard form will be filled out. Non applicable sections shall be marked as "N/A". 2. The run number shall be written in the top right hand corner. 3. A pink copy will be provided to the offender. B. After the call has been completed, to include hazard mitigation and issuance of Notice of Hazard, dispatch should be contacted via radio to request unit be cleared off current call, and a Notice of Hazard call be created at your location. 1. Calls will be created as a 900-type incident that will be deleted from the department electronic reporting system. 2. Deputy Fire Marshals will be able to create a Notice of Hazard call type in the CAD without assistance from dispatch. C. Submitting paperwork 1. The white copy shall be placed in the EMS folder for delivery to Fire headquarters. 2. The yellow copy is to be left in the book for station reference. a. Empty books shall be sent to the Fire Marshal's office for destruction. b. New books shall be requested from the Fire Marshal's office D. Disposition of paperwork by Fire Marshal. 1. Once received by the Fire Marshal's office the Notice of Hazard will be: a. Scanned and attached to the CAD for future reference in the field. b. The Notice of Hazard should be logged on an Excel spread sheet and file the Notice in the division filing system. REVIEW/REVISED
