# Paint 3D ## Three Dimensions or 3Ds - Before we start 3D painting, it's important to learn the basics of 2D and 3D shapes and how they're different. ### 2D Shapes (Two-Dimensional) - Flat shapes that have only two dimensions: length and width. - Examples: squares, circles, triangles, rectangles. ### 3D Shapes (Three-Dimensional) - Solid shapes that have three dimensions: length, width, and height. - Examples: spheres, cylinders, cuboid, cones, cubes. ## Dimensions and X, Y and Z axes - **Dimensions:** special measurements that tell us the size and shape of objects in our world. - **Axis:** an invisible line used to show where objects are in space or what direction they’re pointing. - **x-axis:** horizontal, represents side-to-side or left-to-right direction. - **y-axis:** vertical, represents up-and-down or vertical direction. - **z-axis:** perpendicular to both the x and y axes, represents forward-and-backward or depth direction. ## Introduction to Paint 3D - Paint 3D is a 3D computer graphics application developed by Microsoft that helps craft images that appear to have depth, width, and height. - **To open:** double-click the logo. - **To create a new document:** Select *New*. - **To open an existing document:** Select *Open*. ## Paint 3D Layout - **Layout:** arranging and positioning objects in your project. - Paint 3D window contains: - Menu - Tools - Canvas - Tools Features ## Creating in Paint 3D - **Start:** with a blank canvas or select existing images to work on. - **Begin:** by selecting the brush or shape tool from the toolbar. - **Brushes:** use a set of brushes to choose from on the right to adjust: - brush size - thickness - opacity - matte settings - color ## Importing Images - **Option in Paint 3D:** To import images or add text to your project. - **Steps:** - Select *Menu*. - Choose *Insert*. - Click *Browse Files*. - Choose the file from your computer. ## Adding Text - **Text option:** Customize text style and size using the options. - **Choose:** 2D or 3D text style. - **Adjust:** - font size - style - color - bold - italics - underline - text alignment ## Inserting 3D Objects - Paint 3D provides a library of 3D objects by default. - **To insert a 3D shape:** - Click *3D Shapes*. - Select the shape from the 3D library on the right. ## 3D Doodling - **Allows:** you to draw in three dimensions by using brushes and tools to create 3D brushstrokes and shapes, adding depth to your artwork. - **To use:** - Click *3D Shapes* on the toolbar. - Select the *3D doodle tool*. - Choose a brush. - Start creating 3D strokes using the click and drag options on the canvas. ## Magic Button - Magic Select tool is used to make selections within an image. - **To use:** - Select *Magic Select*. - Drag the corners to focus on the part of the image you want. - Click *Next*. - Use *Add* and *Remove* options to refine the part of the image. - Click *Done*. ## Lighting - **Lighting in Paint 3D:** adjusts the way light interacts with your 3D objects. - **To adjust:** - Click *Effects*. - Choose the color. - Adjust the lighting by moving the *Light Wheel*. ## Stickers - Special digital patterns and colors you can put on 3D objects to make them look real. - **To add a sticker:** - Click *Stickers*. - Choose different options to apply. ## Transparency - Change how transparent certain parts of your artwork are. - **To adjust:** - Select an object. - Click *Canvas*. - Adjust the transparency slider. ## Animation - **Animation:** an illusion of movement that occurs when a series of pictures are shown very quickly. - **Methods:** - Simple Animation: displaying images or objects in rapid succession. Often used in cartoons, website graphics, and presentations to improve visual appeal. - Animated GIFs: tiny moving pictures on the Internet. Created by putting a few pictures together and looping them to create a short, repeating animation. ## To create an animation in Paint 3D: 1. Open the image you want to convert to a video or GIF in Paint 3D. 2. Modify the image by adding 2D or 3D text, effects, 3D models, etc. 3. Click the icon at the top and choose *Save as* and click *Video*. 4. Select *GIF (video)* from the *Save as type* list. 5. Adjust the width, height, frame rate, and quality of your GIF. 6. **Optional:** use the following animation tools: *Turntable, Swing, Jump & Turn, Wobble, Emerge, and* *Hover*. ## Your animation is ready!
