REGIONAL STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES SECTION: 300.00 / Operational Procedures Guideline: 308.00 Communications Effective Date: 7/21/06 Revision Date: 1/2023 308.00 COMMUNICATIONS 308.10 Purpose This guideline establishes operating guidelines for communications between the Fire Departments and Southwest Regional Communications Center. 308.20 Procedures Medical Calls All medical calls shall be dispatched on FD Dispatch. All communications for these calls shall remain on FD Dispatch, unless a fireground channel is requested by the on-scene units, or assigned by Dispatch. Fire Calls Fire calls shall be dispatched on FD Dispatch Dispatch will assign a fire ground channel at the time of dispatch. FD-OPS 8 shall be the primary fire ground tactical channel for all fires. FD OPS 7 and subsequent tactical channels will be used for any other incidents or for Level II staging. 308.30 General Communications When calling on the radio, units will use the “hey you, it’s me" format of identifying the unit or station they are calling and then identifying their unit. EXAMPLE: “Dispatch from Q261” “M262 from Q261”
